African Women

Working The Fields brings together tribal art and high-quality contemporary art. The two figures of African women are stylized, plain, and lack any detailed ornamentation. Their faces have no eyes and no definite expression and this oversimplification alludes to the roots of tribal art, when African masks had hardly any features. Even while working in the field, these African display their uniqueness; and the exotic movements of their bodies speak about their intrinsic individuality. The gentle tones of green, yellow and brown are well combined with the blue of the sky on the wall art
